Do you think that media outlets buy Twitter followers? I was recently sitting in a cafe and there was a couple sitting next to me who were interacting with their Twitter timeline. I think that this is possible the new form of reading the news as many people would do when they go to a cafe. Twitter is a fantastic method for media companies to deliver their headlines in almost realtime and I know that I read a lot of my news like this. I follow all of my favourite news publications and I tend to find that the news that I am reading is actually current instead of the typical form of reading a newspaper. What is the old saying. It goes “yesterdays news, today”.
So how many people out there do you think do the same thing? I think there is a major portion of Twitter users who would use it for the same reason. Have you noticed that a lot of the major news broadcasts on TV also now have a Twitter account which you can follow and interact with? Even classic television shows like “60 minutes” now have Twitter accounts and clearly advertise it during broadcasts of their shows. I wonder if they buy Twitter followers or if their own in house marketing is enough to sustain growth of their accounts. Either way, Twitter is going to become a much bigger part of the way news and media outlets do business and this is going to mean we can stay up to date with news and current affairs much easier. This means that information is becoming more relevamt and up to date thanks to the speed of delivery that Twitter gives us.
